Mobile UX: Designing for Attention, Not Screens
Introduction: Design as a Solution to Business Problems
An interface designer creates screens. A product designer designs the path to success. The difference lies in the depth of understanding of context.
1. Systemic Thinking
A product is not a set of pages. It is a chain of events.
Before use: How did the user learn about us? What are their expectations?
During: How quickly did they receive value?
After: Why would they want to return? What "aftertaste" did the product leave?
2. Balancing Interests
A product designer is a diplomat standing at the intersection of three interests:
User: "It should be convenient for me."
Business: "We need to make money."
Technology: "It must be feasible to implement." The best design is not the one that looks impressive in a portfolio on Behance, but the one that seamlessly solves a problem, bringing profit to the company and joy to the user.
